MLS® Update

Amendments to MLS® Policies
The Board of Directors recently approved amendments to five MLS® policies (see below).

The policies each previously provided for fines to be levied against the listing Brokerage; now the fines are levied to the member.

These amended policies are effective immediately.   An updated copy of the MLS® policies will be available on REALTOR Link® soon. (more…)

Bits & Bytes

Explorer 10 problems
If you are using Internet Explorer 10, you must have ‘Display all websites in compatibility view’ checked under Compatibility View Settings in order for all of our websites to function properly for Fusion and CONNECT.

Open Houses – Reminders
•  Agent open houses are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only.
•  Public open houses (Saturday and/or Sunday and evenings) are to be booked in openhouses.ca  – not in Fusion.

MLS® In Brief

MLXchange Ends July 8, 2013

Members are reminded that MLXchange will be disabled on Monday, July 8, 2013 and Fusion will run as the sole MLS® platform.

Members who wish to brush up on their Fusion skills have a number of opportunities to do so:

  • For those who like the do-it-yourself method, RAHB has compiled instructional material to help you explore and transition to Fusion.  This material can be found on REALTOR Link® (use the “Transition to Fusion” button on the RAHB home page).
  • RAHB is also offering 2-credit, 3-hour hands-on courses in the computer lab at the RAHB office.

Courses keep filling up quickly, so register soon (contact Angela at angelam@rahb.ca) and watch MOD for more dates.

ATTENTION Office Administrators

When you are broker loading listings, please be sure you have changed the salesperson 1 code from your code to the listing salesperson’s code.  RAHB staff have recently noticed several listings that show an office administrator as the salesperson.  When this happens, the listing will not be displayed on REALTOR.ca until the salesperson information is corrected, and the listing will not appear in the “Active Listings” section of that salesperson’s inventory.

Updates to RAHB Property Information Forms

This spring, a review of the RAHB/ NAR Property Information Forms (PIFs) was undertaken, with a view to bring them in line with the current Broker Load selections and to meet the needs of the membership.

  • The following changes will be available and updated on the Broker Load program as well as on WEBforms.
  • The updated 2013 (3-part printed format) RAHB Residential/ Condominium PIFs will be available for purchase in June.
  • You may continue to use your printed 2011 PIFs.  The changes to the Commercial, Multi-Residential, Farm and Vacant Land printed PIFs are scheduled to be migrated into the next print update in the Fall of 2013.

MLS® In Brief

The Board of Directors recently approved the following new MLS® Policy

Interboard and Access Listings

4.  When a REALTOR® from another association joins RAHB as a full member, should the new member have any active access/interboard listings on RAHB’s MLS® system at that time, the following process will be followed: the Listing REALTOR® must provide a signed copy of the listing agreement, a signed RAHB PIF (Property Information Form) or verification from the other association’s MLS® System the listing(s) is/are active; no prepaid access or interboard fees will be refunded; all billing codes will be removed in broker load and all non-member information will be removed and replaced with the RAHB member’s detailed personal information from entering the member’s User ID.

MLS® Update – Auto-Notification Emails

If you have a client set up to receive auto-notification emails but  they haven’t received any new listings (or you’re not receiving the carbon copy), it may be as simple as selecting their email address to receive the auto-notifications (see below) or it may be due to your email address being blocked by their email provider. Bits & Bytes

Don’t send REALTOR® Reports to your clients!
Real estate professionals handle sensitive information every day – and some may not understand how sensitive it is and the special care required.  Specifically, there are some MLS® listing reports – often referred to as “REALTOR®” reports – that contain information such as REALTOR® remarks, commission, and other information – all of which is highly confidential.  Sometimes reports contain showing instructions that no one wants to fall into the wrong hands – “Child home alone between 3 and 5, don’t show”, “Guard dog is really a pussycat”, “Owner on vacation until May – show at will”. Sometimes there is other sensitive information in the report – even descriptions of certain valuables and alarm codes, even though it is generally discouraged to put that kind of information on MLS®.

What does this mean to you?  If you handle these kinds of reports, you need to keep them confidential – be careful not to forward them via email, do not provide those reports to clients, and erase them from your computer when done using them.  Also, when you’re done with a printout you should use a cross-cut shredder to destroy it rather than putting it right in the trash or recycle bin.  You don’t have to read every report and decide if it has sensitive information on it – just make it a habit to use that shredder.

Fusion Update!
A new update to Fusion Experience (Beta) for the Android device is now available on Google Play.  This updates the Android version to the same code base as the iOS version.  Please note:  Because the smaller screen size does not provide an optimal experience, the Android version will continue to carry the Beta label.
