On June 11, the Government of Ontario passed the 2013 provincial budget. Included in the budget is OREA’s proposal to amend the Electronic Commerce Act (ECA), 2000. Once proclaimed, this amendment will give REALTORS® and consumers the confidence to use modern technology that will make transactions more efficient and accessible. (more…)

CMHC study:  Families benefit significantly from living in their own homes

A study conducted by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) highlighted the importance of affordable housing for Canadian families. It concluded that moving into one’s own home leads to major improvements in housing conditions, child well-being and school performance, health, and personal and family life. (more…)

Ethics Corner – Another Tale Retold for a Busy Spring Market: Oh Susannah!

Susannah Salesperson had buyers with whom she’d been working for months. They were all getting a little desperate – the buyers because they were buying their first home and nothing they saw that was in their price range appealed to them, and Susannah be­cause she’d shown them every house in their price range and they were just too picky. Still, she liked them and tried very hard to find their first home. She remembered what it was like when she was buying her first home and how hard it was to let go of some of the dreams. (more…)
