RAHB News – On the road again!

Members had the opportunity to meet with RAHB President Tim Mattioli, Membership Area Representation Committee (MARC) chair Rochelle Edwards and RAHB CEO Ross Godsoe at town hall meetings in April and early May.  The meetings were held in Grimsby (April 30), Burlington (May 2) and Ancaster (May 7). Government Relations – Election issue: Municipal Land Transfer Tax (MLTT)

According to new research by the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA), Toronto’s MLTT has caused significant job losses and negative economic impacts since being imposed in 2008. The study, conducted by Altus Group, looked into the economic impact of Toronto’s Municipal Land Transfer Tax. They concluded that the tax has cost the city $2.3 billion in economic activity and almost 15,000 full-time jobs over the last six years. (more…)

Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 Karan Barker Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student who is or will be attending university or community college and is a child or grandchild of a RAHB member or RAHB employee.  The student must demonstrate academic excellence, a high level of involvement in school and/or the community, maturity, initiative and/or strength of character.

Application deadline is Friday, August 1, 2014.  The application form can be found in REALTOR Link® under the “Membership Information” tab.

Low Inventory Continues

The REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB) reported 1474 property sales were processed through the RAHB Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) system in April.  This represents a 2.7 per cent decrease in sales compared to April of last year. (more…)
