The REALTOR® community in Canada reported giving over $53.8 million to charity in 2012 and 2013. That’s a strong message that helps CREA and the Canadian REALTORS Care® Foundation highlight the generosity of REALTORS® to the general public, the media, and decision-makers on Parliament Hill.

| Effective August 1, 2015, RECO will begin sending electronic registration renewal reminders and will phase out the post card reminder. Moving to electronic will allow RECO to provide registrants with multiple reminders to help everyone renew on time, avoiding any unnecessary interruptions to registration. The initiative is a more sustainable approach, saving the thousands of post cards issued annually.It’s critical that RECO has an up-to-date email address for all registrants. Charlotte and Todd each won a mobile power bank for completing the survey.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 Karan Barker Scholarship.
This scholarship is awarded to a student who is or will be attending university or community college and is a child or grandchild of a RAHB member or RAHB employee. The student must demonstrate academic excellence, a high level of involvement in school and/or the community, maturity, initiative and/or strength of character.
Application deadline is Friday, August 14, 2015. The application can be found in REALTOR Link® under the Member Services tab.

RAHB’s Regional Commercial Council brought home the Canadian Commercial Network (CNN) Merit Award for 2015. This award is given out annually to recognize a commercial division, committee, council or network that demonstrates outstanding service and commitment to meeting the needs of commercial members while supporting the objectives of the CCN. RAHB received the award at the recent CREA AGM and Leadership Summit in Ottawa.
This year’s scoring for the Merit Award was particularly tight and RAHB and the Ottawa Real Estate Board shared the honour of receiving the Merit Award. This is the second time RAHB has received the award; the first was in 2004.

RAHB Past President Robert Kronas (R. Kronas Real Estate) (pictured at left with RAHB President Donna Bacher) was presented with an Honourary Life Award at the March Annual General Meeting.
The award is presented to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the real estate industry and/or the Association. Bob received the award based on his professionalism, integrity, involvement on RAHB committees and task forces and his involvement with affordable housing initiatives in Hamilton.
Bob was one of two winners of the award in 2014; the other winner, Bonnie Dowling (B. Dowling Real Estate Ltd.), received her award at the January Awards and Appreciation Gala.
