The Annual RAHB Charity Golf Tournament is coming up on Thursday, June 27 at Copetown Woods Golf Club.  This event supports RAHB’s two charitable endeavours:  the Home Ownership Affordability Partnership (HOAP) and the Karan Barker Memorial Scholarship Fund and cost $160 plus HST (includes:  lunch, dinner, golf (best ball), cart, entrance gift, photo and contests.  Register Today!

HOAP is a program through which RAHB and its partners, ScotiaBank and the City of Hamilton, help families realize their dreams of home ownership.  Through HOAP, we help one family at a time move from subsidized housing into a home of their own.

RAHB works with its partners to take a family through the process of qualifying for a mortgage, helps them find a property they can afford regardless of its condition, arranges and pays for repairs or renovations that will make the home habitable and comfortable, and hands over the keys to the new owner.  The result is one more family in their own home and one more subsidized space open for a family in need.

To date, HOAP has helped 11 families into homes and at the same time invested in communities by revitalizing older existing housing stock in need of repair.

The Karan Barker Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Karan Barker, a former Executive Officer of the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington.  Since 2001, $50,500 has been awarded to 45 young people to help them further their education.  The awards are made to the children or grandchildren of members or staff who are attending university or college and have demonstrated academic excellence.  These young people possess a high level of involvement in school and/or community, maturity, responsibility, initiative and strength of character.

HOAP and the Karan Barker Memorial Scholarship Fund are supported by the proceeds from the annual charity golf tournament.  If you enjoy a round of golf, a great dinner, prizes and the camaraderie of your fellow members, register now for the 2013 golf tournament by contacting Sheila at sheilas@rahb.ca.
