OREA recently released the updates for the 2017 OREA Standard Forms and Clauses.
All information is available on the members section of OREA.com or go to http://www.realtorlink.ca/content/dam/realtorlink/on/hamilton/Forms/OREA-Summary-of-Revisions-2017.pdf for the 2017 Forms Summary of Revisions.
Many of the OREA Standard forms are affected by the revisions, including OREA Form 200 Listing Agreement – Authority to Offer for Sale, which now includes a new Electronic Signature clause.
OREA has also updated ‘OREA Forms Explained’, a member’s resource where 44 forms files are annotated to help members understand and use the forms. RAHB will be hosting an OREA Outreach 2017 Forms & Clause Revisions Update education session. The date of the session will be announced on Message of the Day (MOD) as soon as arrangements have been confirmed.
The new 2017 OREA Standard Forms are now available on the OREA website and WEBForms®. Printed forms will be available through the Realty Shoppe in mid-January.

RAHB was a proud supporter of Hamilton’s first-ever NOSH Chef Wars! The event was a kickoff to the week-long NOSH celebration of Hamilton’s culinary scene (October 17 to 23, 2016).
Modelled after Chopped Canada but with a Hamilton flair, Chef Wars had ten renowned Hamilton chefs face off to create an appetizer, main course, and dessert to win the title of the best-of-the-best in Hamilton. Congratulations to Matt Kershaw (The Other Bird Group Inc.) and Shayne Madadi (Pokeh) who tied for first place for a spectacular win!
Congratulations to the RAHB members who won tickets to Chef Wars through our members-only Facebook group contest: April Almeida (Keller Williams Complete Realty), Brenda McKinley (Keller Williams Edge Realty), Sue Boyle (Royal LePage State Realty), Branko Miskovic (RE/MAX Realty Enterprises Inc.) and Margaret Uznanska (Royal LePage State Realty)!

Ethics Corner — How much do you know about CREA trademarks?
(And yes, you should know about CREA trademarks!)
The Canadian Real Estate Association owns the trademarks for the Multiple Listing Service®, MLS® and REALTOR®. These trademarks have value to CREA, and they also have value to all CREA members because they denote special services and standing.
Every REALTOR® should know how to use the terms MLS®, Multiple Listing Service® and REALTOR® correctly. There is a wealth of information about CREA trademarks on the CREA page in REALTOR Link® – just look under Resources and Compliance > Trademarks and Logos > Trademark Resources.
In the meantime, here’s a short video explaining how to use the MLS® trademark correctly:

As a REALTOR® your job requires you to meet with lots of people – most of whom you don’t know. You often meet with these people by yourself and behind closed doors at showings or open houses. These situations open you up to all types of risk.
With that in mind, CREA has created a community on REALTOR Link® with tips on how to keep yourself safe while working. But this is just the start. CREA has received some great articles, publications and personal stories from Boards, Associations and REALTORS® that we will share, and continue to share, as we receive them.
Please take a couple moments to review what we have – it might just be one of the best decisions you make

CREA has created a Data Distribution Facility (DDF) to enable CREA’s members to easily disseminate MLS® listing content to multiple websites, and to ensure that MLS® listing content that is displayed on these websites is accurate, up to date, and uses CREA’s trademarks correctly.
A field has been added to RAHB’s Fusion Listing Input screens for all property types, called Display DDF. This is a required field and valid answers are Yes or No. Selecting Yes will add the listing to CREA’s Data Distribution Facility; selecting No will leave it out of the DDF. When you are editing listings, you will be required to also complete the field.
* Important – please note that if your brokerage has not opted into the DDF via http://tools.realtorlink.ca, your listing will NOT be included in the DDF. If you checked “Yes” and your brokerage is participating in the DDF, your listing will be included. If you checked “No” and your brokerage is participating in the DDF, your listing will NOT be included. If you are unsure of your Brokerage’s DDF status, please check with your Broker of Record or Manager.
For more information regarding CREA’s DDF, go to the Newsroom section of CREA’s web site and choose Data Distribution Facility Documentation.
