Let It Snow!  Let It Snow!  Let It Snow!
SOS – Snow Off Sidewalks

The City of Hamilton’s Snow Removal Bylaw # 03-290 requires that property owners, occupants and businesses clear snow and ice from all City sidewalks surrounding their property within 24 hours of a snowfall.  It is illegal to place or throw snow and ice on a road or boulevard as it may interfere with traffic and may cause an accident.

Keeping sidewalks and walkways clear of snow and ice improves the quality of life for all, including delivery and customer service workers and those who rely on mobility aids.  Clearing sidewalks will also help reduce injuries caused by slip and falls.

Be a good neighbour and remember to help others.

Helping Hands and Hamilton Snow Angels Awareness program are two options to help seniors and disabled persons clear their snow off their sidewalks in the City of Hamilton.

  • Helping Hands, please call 905.546.3057
  • Snow Angels, please call 905.523.1910 or visit them online at:  www.snowangels.ca

A good way to help your community is to volunteer to be a Snow Angel.

Please note that these programs are not responsible for removal of snow and ice within 24 hours of a snowfall, it is the property owners’/occupants’ responsibility to ensure snow and ice is removed.
