RAHB has been receiving calls from members who are experiencing situations which are not covered by rules or regulations but where common sense and courtesy would seem to be in order.  Two situations in particular keep coming up:

Members do not leave business cards after they have shown a property.  It is appreciated by the seller and the listing salesperson if members showing a property actually indicate they were in the home by leaving their business card in a place where the seller will find the card.  Sellers who are away when a showing is supposed to take place have no way of knowing when they return if the showing has happened or is still to come if the salesperson does not leave a card to indicate he or she was there.

Members who are early or late for an appointment are not respecting the appointment time of other members.  If you are running late and another salesperson is showing the property when you get there, have the courtesy to let that salesperson and his or her buyer finish looking at the property before you take in your buyers.  The same holds true if you are early – wait until the other member is finished showing the property before you go in.

Both these situations boil down to common courtesy and the Golden Rule – “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.  If you are selling your property, wouldn’t you like to know someone has been in the house, and who it was?  If you have an appointment for which you are on time, do you want a member who is running late or early to barge into the property and interfere with your showing?
