The 11th Annual Commercial Summit was held Thursday, May 3 at the Burlington Golf and Country Club.   RCC Chair Hank Balfoort welcomed more than 110 attendees, and turned the day’s proceedings over to moderator Professor Marvin Ryder from the DeGroot School of Business at McMaster University.

The full morning of education and updates began with the Canadian Commercial Council’s (CCC) Bonnie Prior, who briefed the attendees on the activities on the national front.  Next, a panel of the region’s Economic Development representatives presented updates on the local opportunities, services and incentives.  The cities of Hamilton, Burlington and Haldimand Country were represented by speakers Neil Everson, Kyle Benham and James Goodram respectively.

Following the networking break that showcased the summit’s 11 sponsors and exhibitors, closing speaker Tania Cassin demonstrated the provincial investment attraction tools offered by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

“The Summit promoted what RAHB’s Regional Commercial Council does best,” noted Balfoort, “with prime networking opportunities; topical, relevant education; and fostering  our relationships with appropriate professional and governmental organizations.  We were especially pleased to see so many commercial practitioners in attendance from our neighbouring real estate boards.”
