RAHB members present at the May 16 General Membership Meeting (GMM) voted to approve amendments to sections 9, 10 and 12 of the RAHB Rules and Regulations.  The amendments (as circulated to members prior to the GMM and in the May issue of REALINFO) will take effect immediately.

Members also approved an increase in RAHB membership dues, from $400 to $500 per year.  The increase will take effect July 1 of this year, with a pro-rated increase of $50.00 for 2012.  As a measure to assist members, the Association will invoice RAHB, OREA and CREA dues quarterly, also starting July 1, 2012.  See the notice on page 2 for more information.

Marlene O’Hara (RE/MAX Garden City) was the lucky winner of the draw

Open Forum highlights CREA Futures

An Open Forum was held prior to the recent General Membership Meeting (GMM) to give members an opportunity to air their questions and comments about the business on the GMM agenda.  Members also received updates on the CREA Futures initiative from CREA Vice President Beth Crosbie and on RAHB’s Scout Remediation program by RAHB CEO Ross Godsoe.

Ms. Crosbie’s presentation on the CREA Futures project included video footage from the CREA Leadership Day in April of 2011 and an update on how the initiative is moving forward.  (To see the video, go to http://futuresavenir.realtorlink.ca/?cid=1205870&sid=-1517184854 and scroll down to “You asked for it, you got it”; updates on the initiative are also found on the same page.)  Ms. Crosbie, a REALTOR® from the Maritimes, stressed that CREA Futures is a REALTOR® initiative to ensure the future of organized real estate.

The Scout Remediation program to stop members and other MLS® users from sharing their access codes and passwords (login credentials) – contrary to the MLS® Rules and Regulations – is well underway, said Mr. Godsoe.  He described the program that identifies users who share their login credentials and some of the steps the program takes to bring members into compliance with Rules and Regulations.  To date, he noted, 122 users were identified as sharing their access codes and passwords and have entered into remediation and five users were dangerously close to losing their access to the MLS® system.  (For more information about the steps taken in the remediation program, see Ethics Corner.)
