Q&A: Common RAHB Matrix 7.0 Questions from Members

We are a week into the preview period for RAHB’s new Matrix MLS® System, and our MLS® department has been busy answering your questions over the phone. Here are the most commonly asked questions and their answers.

Q: How do I login to RAHB Matrix 7.0?

A:  You can access RAHB Matrix 7.0 through This is the URL for the new single sign on (SSO) dashboard that contains links to RAHB Matrix 7.0, Fusion, the regional Matrix system (requires a separate login), RAHB’s membership resources and REALTOR® tools. Login to as you normally would for Fusion, and then use the RAHB Matrix button to access Matrix 7.0 – no further login is required!


Q: What information has been transferred to RAHB Matrix 7.0 from Fusion and regional Matrix? Will my CMAs and reports be transferred over?

A: Only your saved searches, contacts and personal head shots have been transferred to RAHB Matrix 7.0 from Fusion and regional Matrix.

Items such as your saved views, shortcuts, headers, footers, personal logos and anything you customized on your email templates will not be moved over. This means you now have the opportunity to use the wider range of marketing material options that Matrix 7.0 offers!

As for your CMAs – if you wish save any of your current CMAs in RAHB Matrix 7.0, download them from Fusion or the regional Matrix system, print them to a .pdf, then re-enter the information into RAHB Matrix 7.0. If you have a lot of CMAs you wish to save, this could take a bit of time, so please ensure that you schedule accordingly to ensure a smooth transition before cutover.


Q: How do I display only the listings I have selected?

A: Once you have selected the listings you want to display, click the Refine button at the bottom of the page, then click Narrow. Now only your selected listings will display. To get back to the original results, click the “Original Results” link at the top left corner of the page.

If you are selecting particular searches in a saved search, however, you have to keep in mind that when you select listings and then re-save the search, it actually alters the criteria for the search. You will have to make sure you don’t save the narrowed list as a saved search, or you will have narrowed the criteria for the search for your client to just those listings.


Q: Can I disable the “Client Search” functionality within the RAHB Matrix 7.0 client portal?

No, this feature is enabled for all client portals. The advantage for you is that your clients, who may also be looking at other websites to search listings, will see only your contact information displayed where other sites might provide your client with full contact details for every listing salesperson.

RAHB Matrix has been launched with the most current product version – Matrix 7.0!  CoreLogic has added several new and exciting features to this MLS® system such as…


Updated Client Portal

Your clients will find the new Matrix 7.0 portal to be easier to navigate with an improved look and feel. The redesigned portal displays well on various mobile devices, giving your clients the freedom to access the site on a computer, tablet or smart phone.

The Client Portal provides you with private websites that let you personally brand the information delivered to each individual client. The portal serves as a powerful communication tool by allowing clients to categorize listings according to their level of interest, as well as logging conversation notes between you and your clients. Your clients can further customize their portal experience by creating and saving searches of their own.

New REALTOR® Headers and Footers

A new library of professionally designed header graphics is now available in RAHB Matrix 7.0! Go to the My Matrix tab then select the Settings drop-down option. Under My Information, select Header & Footer. Here you can view the new headers and footers and choose the one that best suits your brand and personality. You can also upload your own.

Notifications of Portal Activity

You can now be notified via email when a contact is active on their portal! Whether it be adding listing notes, or saving favourites, you can stay up-to-date on your client activity.

Updated REALTOR® Web Pages

The RAHB Matrix 7.0 REALTOR® Web Pages also have been updated to match the new client portal design.

Google Maps

The RAHB Matrix 7.0 now has up-to-date street maps and aerial views with the Google Maps mapping service.

Logging in to Matrix

Login to RAHB’s Matrix system through – your new single sign on (SSO) dashboard with links to RAHB’s Matrix, the regional Matrix system, Fusion (for now), RAHB’s membership resources and REALTOR® tools.  Login as you normally would for your current SSO or Fusion, then use the RAHB Matrix button to go to Matrix – no further login is required.

First things first

The first thing to notice about the new RAHB Matrix 7.0 is that the home page is quite different from the home page in Fusion, and even a little different from your home page in the regional Matrix system. RAHB beta testers gave us valuable input about how best to organize the home page for RAHB users.

The best way to become familiar with your RAHB Matrix home page is to thoroughly explore all of the main menu tabs and widgets.

Here’s a short list of where to find the things you might use most:

  • Links to RAHB Education/Account Services, GeoWarehouse, WEBForms®, CONNECT, REALTOR Link® and the CREA DDF dashboard are found under the drop-down menu in the Tools tab.
  • Links to OREA Standard Forms and Clauses and Education, ca, OREA,, and RECO are found under the Links tab as well as the External Links homepage widget.
  • Also in the Links tab/External Links widget are links to Tax and Zoning Information, CREA sites, OREA sites, RAHB’s public website, blog and MLS® Rules and Regulations and more – be sure to check them out.

Contacts and saved searches

One of the first things you will want to do after you’ve become at least a little familiar with your Matrix  7.0 homepage, is check your contacts and saved searches. These have been moved from Fusion and the regional Matrix system to the RAHB Matrix system.

If you have been using only Fusion for your searches and maintaining your contact list, it is especially important that you make sure all the information in your saved searches and contacts is correct because some of the fields in Fusion do not line up with fields in Matrix.  If information is missing or incorrect, you will want to edit the information and save it. It is important that you turn ON your saved searches in Matrix and turn OFF your saved searches in Fusion. (When RAHB members first accessed the regional system, all saved searches were moved over to the regional system. If you haven’t turned on those searches and have continued to use your Fusion saved searches, then those searches in the regional system will still be there, and will be moved over.)

(This message was originally sent to all members on July 5, 2017, but bears repeating)

Data-Sharing Agreement

I am following up on the message I sent to you on June 26, 2017 about the status of the data sharing contract between RAHB and the regional boards and associations that are members of ORTIS.

Based on the last version of the contract ORTIS proposed to RAHB, [on July 4] RAHB forwarded to ORTIS updates we believe are fair and equitable for not only RAHB members but also for REALTORS® from the regional boards and associations. The terms and conditions are back in alignment with those already agreed to in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between RAHB and ORTIS in January 2017.

We understand ORTIS has a board of directors meeting on July 6, 2017, at which time they are expected to review this contract. We are optimistic they will agree with the updates so we can proceed to instruct CoreLogic to develop the data share program.

RAHB continues to plan the cutover from Fusion to our own Matrix platform on August 15, 2017. Following are more details about that transition, and what you can do to be ready.

Matrix is coming!

I’m excited to announce that you will have your first look at RAHB’s new Matrix system on Wednesday, July 12, 2017!

Starting on July 12, you will be able to access the RAHB Matrix system using the RAHB Matrix button which will be added to your single sign on (SSO) dashboard (use the URL and login as you would normally login to Fusion or your current SSO dashboard– no additional login is required)! Remember to mark the new SSO URL as a favourite – it will be your gateway to Matrix, RAHB news and membership services, and other REALTOR® tools.

Once you’re inside the RAHB Matrix system, you will be able to search the RAHB MLS® database for all RAHB MLS® listings and check the accuracy of your client searches and contacts records (which will be migrated from Fusion and/or the regional Matrix system).

What about the regional Matrix system?

At this time, we are still negotiating a final contract for sharing data with the regional MLS® boards and associations via ORTIS. Until our final cutover on August 15, RAHB will continue to upload listings from Fusion to the regional system, so you can continue to access the regional system for your regional searches. We will communicate the status of the data share as soon as it becomes finalized.

What about broker loading listings?

Until cutover, you will continue to load your listings into Fusion – there is a Fusion button on your SSO dashboard to take you directly to Fusion.

One final word

On August 15, 2017, when we make the final cutover to our own Matrix system, Fusion will be retired and you will do everything – enter and maintain listings, searches and statistics – in the RAHB Matrix system. Please use the preview period to become familiar with what our Matrix system offers you. It is the most up-to-date version and has enhancements not found in the regional system.

Smithville Area 57 boundaries extended

The RAHB Board of Directors approved a change to the Smithville (SM 57) boundary to line up with the official urban boundaries for Smithville Township.

The previous Smithville boundary was set many years ago, prior to the recent residential development in the township. Some new developments are legally within Smithville Township but lay outside the long-standing RAHB boundaries and therefore had to be listed in GR55. Anyone searching for properties in Smithville might well have missed those listed in GR 55.

RAHB’s MLS® Committee consulted with members who are active in the area and with the Township of West Lincoln, and recommended that RAHB’s boundary should follow that of the Township.  Now, members with listings in Smithville and those searching for listings in Smithville will be able to use the SM 57 area code and be confident the properties are located in the correct area.

The change in boundary is now in effect. All active and historical listings have been updated in Fusion and Matrix. RAHB’s Outlying Areas map will be updated at the next printing, and CoreLogic will update the boundary for the overlay on the map search prior to RAHB’s full cut over to Matrix.

Report data errors

If you spot an error on a listing or you think a member’s listing violates a RAHB rule or MLS® policy, there is an easy way to report these issues.

In both Fusion and Matrix, clicking on the Icon icon in the listing details opens an email window for reporting an error. The MLS® listing number and address are automatically recorded in the email, so you need only to explain the issue or infraction and click send. These emails are received, reviewed and  followed up by our MLS® staff.

Your assistance in reporting errors and issues is appreciated, because it helps to keep the MLS® data reliable for you and all other members.

MLS® Update: data sharing (reprint)

This message from RAHB CEO George O’Neill went to all members on June 26, 2017. We are reprinting it here in case you missed it!

Over the past two weeks, RAHB held three webinars for our members, plus a Broker of Record/Manager meeting. At those meetings, we discussed RAHB’s plans to cut over to our own Matrix MLS® system in August as well as the status of the data sharing discussions with the regional boards/associations via ORTIS. Thank you to each of the 250+ members who attended the meetings either in person or  online.


RAHB has heard loud and clear that our members, as well as many other REALTORS® from across the region, strongly desire to have RAHB’s data sharing in place prior to cutover, so we have taken immediate action. Just after the Broker of Record/Manager meeting, I called ORTIS representatives to discuss how we may work together to finalize the contract.


I am pleased they have agreed to work with me and RAHB’s lawyer, as the contract, as is, require refinement to make it fair and equitable for RAHB members and for those of the regional boards/associations.


I will provide a further update next week as to the status of the data sharing contract at that time.

Royal LePage Burloak Real Estate Services hosted its 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on June 7th, 2017 at Crosswinds Golf & Country Club. One hundred sixty-four golfers and  volunteers turned up to enjoy the beautiful  weather and a round of golf in support of  the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.

This year’s tournament raised $34,000, making the total donated to the Foundation over 15 years at $316,500!

Ethics Corner: Are your open house and directional signs legal?


Did you know that your signs must comply with all municipal sign bylaws?

Why is it important?

Open house/directional sign bylaws exist to ensure that sight lines for drivers and pedestrians are unobstructed and, in some cases, so that signs are not left to clutter boulevards, medians, etc.

If your signs do not comply with municipal sign bylaws, they may be seen as causing a visual distraction, adding to what may be perceived as unsightly clutter, and as lacking professionalism.


  1. Municipalities have fines for removing and storing signs that don’t comply with their bylaws.
  2. A complaint may be filed with RAHB’s Professional Standards Committee.

If you see a sign that doesn’t comply with municipal bylaws, you can:

  • Contact the owner of the sign and remind him or her of the sign bylaw for that municipality
  • Contact the municipality in which the sign is  located and let them deal with it as a non- compliant sign
  • Take a time- and date-stamped photo clearly showing the location of the sign and forward it  to the RAHB Professional Standards Committee (c/o Angela at the RAHB office –  along with a letter of complaint that cites the bylaw that is being breached.

Note: RAHB cannot enforce the municipality’s sign bylaw; it can only enforce its rule requiring compliance with the bylaw. 

Be aware that bylaws differ from municipality to municipality, so what is non-compliant in Burlington, for example, may be compliant in Grimsby or Hamilton or Haldimand. If you see a sign that doesn’t comply with municipal bylaws, you should NEVER remove the sign – members may never interfere with another member’s sign.

Is this a sign of a rebalancing of the market the province was hoping for? The official housing market numbers for May won’t be out for a few days, but early indications show a big jump in the number of homes for sale in the Hamilton and Burlington real estate market as of early this week.

These relationships are built further at local visits with  the same representatives.
  • RAHB worked to dissuade Hamilton City Council from adopting landlord licensing and to encourage the city to develop and present a program to encourage landlords to safely create secondary suites through simple, legal means. As this conversation continues at City Hall, RAHB has  a voice at the table to ensure affordable housing is maintained in a safe way.
  • In 2015, RAHB’s Government Relations Committee successfully lobbied City Councillors to discourage them from considering asking for powers to impose  a municipal land transfer tax.
  • RAHB partnered with the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and Hamilton-Halton Home Builders Association in the 2014 civic election. Together, as the Hamilton Business Leaders, the group hosted a Q&A with the mayoralty candidates.
  • Representatives from RAHB are consistently invited to participate on committees, as part  of focus groups and in other forms of stakeholder engagement in Hamilton, Burlington and beyond, allowing members voices to be heard as well and information to flow both ways.
  • RAHB holds membership in all Chambers of Commerce of communities within its boundaries,  and actively participates in Chamber activities in Hamilton and Burlington through sponsorship of events, including most recently, the Bay Area Economic Summit.

Musings from RAHB CEO George O’Neill

Matrix Update

On June 6, 2017, you received an email from RAHB President Lou Piriano and me that announced a mid-August 2017 launch of our Matrix system. I’m excited about the launch since RAHB’s new MLS® System has been designed specifically for RAHB members and contains many new features that we are confident you will find to be very helpful in your day to day business as a REALTOR®.

Our new MLS® platform is Matrix 7.0, the latest version available from CoreLogic. It will include new market reporting tools, a new customer portal, a direct interface and a host of other new features that will provide you with tools you can use to offer enhanced services to your clients and better ways to communicate with them.  And all this will be available on your mobile phone, tablet or desktop – it is fully responsive on all devices.

You can expect to preview our new Matrix system in mid-July, about four weeks before our cutover date.  If you are already using the regional Matrix system for searches, you will have no trouble with our system. The preview period will give you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with our Matrix and to ensure all your saved searches and customer contact data have been transferred properly from the regional system as well as from our Fusion system.  Training will be offered for those who wish to learn how to load and maintain listings in our Matrix system, even though many will find the interface very intuitive.  Listing search will be almost identical to the regional system, which you are most likely already familiar with.  Training will also be offered for the entire system, for those who require an update.

You will be hearing more about RAHB’s Matrix launch in the coming weeks – be sure to watch for information, webinars, tips and instructions in upcoming issues of The Shift. In the mean time, continue to load your listings and do all your listing maintenance in Fusion.

Now a word about data sharing. As we mentioned in our June 6 email, RAHB’s Board of Directors had serious concerns with the way ORTIS, the company managing the regional Matrix system, operates. This is not new; we communicated our concerns to you in the past. After almost a year of trying to have these issues addressed and to put in place an equitable data share approach, our  Board determined that ORTIS was unable to meet RAHB’s expectations of professionalism and the standards of service our members are used to. Therefore, our Board notified ORTIS that RAHB will be leaving ORTIS on our Matrix launch date.

What does this mean for you?  Based on understandings already in place with ORTIS, you should continue to have access to the regional Matrix system for your listing searches until cutover to the RAHB Matrix system.  We don’t have any guarantees after that date, but be assured RAHB continues to be open to discussing with our neighbouring boards and associations continued access to listing search  beyond our cutover date.
