The CREA Canadian Commercial Forum and TREB’s REALTOR® Quest are happening all under one roof this year, and RAHB’s Regional Commercial Network has arranged a package deal for any member to attend on Thursday, May 5. The package includes:
- coach transportation (from RAHB and back)
- admission to REALTOR® Quest
- all sessions
- continental breakfast
- Forum’s wine and cheese reception
Full details are on the registration form. Seats are being sold “first come, first served”. Register now! Note: if we don’t have enough members registered for this package deal by April 22, the trip may be cancelled.
Exciting changes have happened for RAHB members whose focus is primarily in commercial real estate.
The former RAHB Regional Commercial Council (RCC) is now officially the Regional Commercial Network (RCN) and has a new structure. 2015 RCN Chair Heidi Van Der Marel outlined the new structure at the RCN Networking Luncheon on Monday, November 2.
What has changed?
- The RCN has migrated from an election process to become a committee composed of volunteers. RCN committee members still have to be approved RCN members (i.e. have been an RCN member for more than one year), but will now be selected from qualifying and skilled applicants who express an interest during the annual call for committee volunteers.
- The RCN has a more welcoming approach to commercial REALTORS® from other Ontario Boards/Associations. The same membership criteria will apply as all RAHB RCN members, but the RCN membership fee has been removed.
What has not changed?
- The criteria for RCN membership has remained unchanged. Applicants must still provide evidence of commercial education, activity or approved designation. Also, full members in the RCN are automatically pre-approved for membership in CREA’s Canadian Commercial Network.
The RCN is taking this progressive, proactive approach to secure a strong future for the maintenance and growth of the group.
Interested in learning how to apply to be a RCN member? Contact Kathy Rubio firstname.lastname@example.org for a RCN membership application and a summary of qualifying criteria.
If you need to take a leave of absence (for medical leave, maternity/paternity leave or compassionate care), remember that:
- your RAHB account must be paid in full before you will be granted a leave of absence;
- you are responsible for maintaining your license with RECO, including paying your E&O Insurance, license renewal, etc;
- you will pay only current membership dues when you return from your leave of absence.
Here’s what you need to be granted a RAHB leave of absence:
Medical leave: requires a completed form accompanied by a letter from your physician; good for 12 months, you do not have to remit any fees.
Maternity/paternity leave: requires a completed form accompanied by letter from your physician or midwife; good for 12 months, you do not have to remit any fees.
Compassionate Care: requires letter of notice from Brokerage signed by both you and your Broker of Record/Manager; good for eight weeks, you do not have to remit any fees.
Forms for leaves of absence are on REALTOR Link® under the Member Services tab. For more information contact Camryn at email@example.com or 905.529.8101 X258.
An addition to Article 4, Section 4.01 of the RAHB Bylaw – approved by the members at the March 24 Annual General Meeting – now allows that members who transfer from one branch office to another branch office of the same Brokerage will no longer have to pay a processing fee.
Article 4, Section 4.01 (addition):
“Any Member who changes their office location(s) within the same Brokerage shall not be assessed a processing fee”.
This change is effective immediately.
Tax time is here! Here’s how to print off your RAHB invoice:
- Log into the Fusion Homepage
- In the Resource section, select “Smartlinks”
- From the drop down menu, select “Education/Account Services”. This will open a new window.
- Select “Print Members Statement”
- Enter the date parameters of your choice. For example, if you want to create a copy of your 2014 invoices, you would enter a start date of 01/01/2014 and an end date of 12/31/2014
- Select “Run statement, Print”
** If you get a printer error, go to “select a format” (found above the RAHB logo), select “Acrobat Adobe PDF”, “export”, “print”. **
Operational committees will be formed in the next month, so if you would like to serve on a RAHB committee or task force, complete the volunteer profile today!
Please note: the process for recruiting members for RAHB committees has changed! RAHB is now asking you to complete a volunteer profile in which you tell us your strengths, experience and interests. As committees and task forces are formed, member profiles will be reviewed and members asked to participate on a committee or task force according to the skills and interests required for the task at hand. Experience is not necessarily a requirement!
This new process is a year-round process – if you don’t complete the volunteer profile now, you haven’t missed out for 2015. Committees and task forces will be struck throughout the year as they are needed, so it’s never too late to submit your profile.
In December and January we received a number of questions about the new regional MLS® System and about removing the MLS® Rules and Regulations from the Bylaws. The answers to those questions (taken from the Facebook and LinkedIn group pages and sent directly to the association) are now available on REALTOR Link® –http://beta.realtorlink.ca/content/realtorlink/on/hamilton/en_CA/mls—-it/regionalmls/fyi.html (REALTOR Link®>MLS & IT >Regionalization>You Asked?)
The elevator in the RAHB office will be undergoing an upgrade and will be out of service from Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, March 13.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
