Arbitration, Discipline and Professional Standards Committees
There were no Arbitration Hearings and three Abbreviated Discipline Hearings held during the third quarter. The Professional Standards Committee reviewed six new complaints, four of which were deemed to fall under RECO’s jurisdiction and two cases which were opened and are being investigated by RAHB.

Burlington Council
The Burlington Council continued its support of local initiatives through sponsorship of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce’s Business Forum (September 14) and Small Business Week Breakfast (October 17).  The agenda of the October 24 Burlington Town Hall meeting will include updates on the latest initiatives and a review of the results of the Burlington survey.  Please plan to attend this important meeting and register with Kathy kathyr@rahb.ca.

Communications
The Communications Committee reviewed REALINFO and the results from the RAHB Member Satisfaction Survey and suggested several actions which will be included in RAHB’s communications plan for 2013.  A donation was made to Neighbour to Neighbour.

Membership Area Representation Committee (MARC)
RAHB’s Fall Town Hall meetings will be in Grimsby (October 16), Burlington (October 24) and Stoney Creek Mountain (October 26).  This is an excellent opportunity to hear the latest updates affecting your Association, and for the Association to hear from you.  There is no cost to attend – pre-registration is appreciated and encouraged – contact Kathy kathyr@rahb.ca.

MLS®
The MLS® Committee researched and crafted several new MLS® policies, including policies with fines.  The Board of Directors approved the policies at their recent meeting; please see the MLS® Update in this edition of REALINFO for more information.

Professional Development
The Professional Development Committee had a quiet third quarter.  Summer courses included  The Next Real Estate Wave: Tapping into the Grey Market, Feng Shui 101, iPhone Tips 101 and The Complete Story: GEOWarehouse from Top to Bottom. We offered two courses during the month of September.

The Fall course schedule has started and courses will run until December 12, 2012. We have several new courses scheduled,  including Cyber Law, What Real Estate Professionals Need to Know about Family Law, Hidden Health Hazards in the Home, and Understanding Social Media. Members can view the course schedule online through MLXchange, REALTORLink® or by contacting the Education Department.

Regional Commercial Council (RCC)
The RCC has a busy fall schedule.

The RECO Commercial Update was held on September 24 and a city of Hamilton “One Stop for Business Update” will be held on November 30 (watch REALINFO for more details).  Chair Hank Balfoort will attend the annual Canadian Commercial Council of REALTORS® in Calgary in October.

Nominations are now open for RCC Councillor.  Interested members must have been a full member of the RCC for at least one year to be eligible to stand for election or nominate a candidate.  The Election Dinner will be held November 1 at the Burlington Golf and Country Club, and all members are welcome to attend.  See the RCC Election insert in this addition of REALinfo for full details.
